We are involved in makin Operational Manuals for the Bank on behalf of our company. The Bank gives us reimbursment of the lunch expenses incurred by us while we are at the bank.

I am a student of Chartered Accountant.i am doing my articleship with a chartered accountant company. I have been deployed my company to do External audit in a Bank.We are not the employees of bank niether are we in any way related with the Interset element in the Bank.We are involved in makin Operational Manuals for the Bank on behalf of our company. The Bank gives us reimbursment of the lunch expenses incurred by us while we are at the bank.Are we allowed to have the Lunch reimbursement as per the Shariyah.Please guide me through this. Is it Halal.
Answer
It is a well known fact that the major source of income of the conventional banks is from interest bearing transactions. It is, therefore, not permissible for you to collect a direct reimbursement for your lunch.
You may request your company to reimburse you. The bank and the company could have their own internal arrangements.
