Question

1. Can the Qutba'a be given in any other language other than Arabic?
2. Can we pray Jumua'a Salat by listening to Qutba'a on Radio? If yes, then How many minimum number of persons should be there to attend that prayer?
3. Which is the correct inter-net site which can give the direction of Qiblah. At present I am in Irving, Texas, and I want to know in which direction I should pray my salat. Somebody says in the North-East Direction and while surfing through internet, I found the the direction is South-East. I am confused. please help me.

Please explain in details in the light of Qur'aan and Hadiths.

Answer

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatoh

It is sunnah to give the khutbah in the Arabic language. Giving it in any other language is bidah.

It is not permissible to pray Jummah Salah by listening to the khutbah on the radio. It is necessary to be present in the khutbah.

The direction of Qiblah for Houston, Texas is 45.32 degrees east from the direction of North. In other words almost exactly northeast.

And Allah knows best
