Question

The Madrasah is introducing Urdu Qur'aan Tarjuma ( all the subjects in the Madrasah are taught in English ) Qur'aan Tarjuma in Urdu will be taught by a Aapa whos first language is not Urdu and is not well Acquainted with the Language - there is a Fear of the Ustaadh and Students mis-translating the Urdu translation

The reason for this is that so when the students one day listen to Urdu lectures they may understand at least the Aayaat of the Qur'aan

Answer

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Urdu should be taught as a separate language .It is incorrect to teach urdu through Quran tarjama especially by someone who does not know Urdu. Furthermore, the madrasah should take great precaution in teaching the translation of the Qur’ān to ensure the correct understanding of the verses of the Qur’ān. It is incorrect to teach the translation of the Qur’ān in urdu especially if one does not know urdu.
