Specifying a time period in a construction agreement
Question
Salam. I am building a house inshallah. Is it okay for me to specify a period of time by which I want the construction of the house to be completed?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykumwa-rahmatullāhiwa-barakātuh.
In principle, it is permissible for you to specify a time period by which you want the construction of the house to be completed.[1]

ألا ترى لو أن رجلاً استأجر رجلاً على أن يعمل له هذا العمل بدرهم وشرط عليه أن يفرغ منه اليوم فإن هذا جائز

وفي الأصل أيضا لو شرط على الخباز أن يخبز له هذه العشرة المخاتيم دقيقا وشرط عليه أن يفرغ منه اليوم تجوز هذه الإجارة عندهم جميعا، وإن ذكر الوقت والعمل. كذا في الذخيرة.

وكذا لو استأجر رجلا ليعمل له هذا العمل بدرهم وشرط عليه أن يفرغ منه اليوم جاز بالاتفاق
