Will the Jummah be valid if the Imam sits for Khutbah
Question
If the imam sits for the kutbah mistakenly, will the kutbah be valid and does the Jummah salah have to be repeated.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
In principle, it is Sunnah for the Imam to stand and deliver the Khutbah. If the Imam sits and delivers the Khutbah, then the Khutbah will be valid. However, it is Makrooh for the Imam to sit and deliver the Khutbah.[1]
