1)Do we need to do istinja if the stomach air is released? 2) How do I decide, either to follow the the hanafi way or shafi way in daily ibadaat?

Question

Assalam-o-Alaikum ! My second question needs explanation because here in my country, most of the people are hanfi. But i think that Imam-e-Kaba should be the right person. I'm confused whom to follow. Please guide me !!!

Answer

1. There is no need to perform Istinjaa if one passes wind. In fact, some Ulama re of the opinion that to do so is Bid'at.
2. Considering your present situation - especially, the fact that the Hanafis make up the bulk of the population, you should adhere to the Hanafi Madhab. This is also for your own convenience.
