A Dog Bit into a Sheep – Can I Consume That Portion?
Question
السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللّهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهُُ
Mufti saheb how are you doing?
I have a question…. If a dog bit into a sheep than it was badly injured so it was slaughterd (not for qurbaani)…. Now is it permissible to consume that portion which the dog bit?
Answer
As salām ʿalaikum wa raḥmatullāhī wa barakātuhū
In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
It should be noted that the leftover of a dog is impure. Accordingly, the portion which the dog bit into would also be impure and thus impermissible to consume.
And Allāh Taʿālā knows best.

قال أبو جعفر: (وسؤر الدواب التي يكره أكلها: في حكم لحومها، وسؤر ما يؤكل لحمه منها: في حكم لحمه).
قال أبو بكر: الأسآر عندهم على أربعة أنحاء:
ومنها: نجس مقطوع بنجاسته، وهو سؤر الكلب والخنزير

“و” القسم “الثاني”: سؤر “نجس” نجاسة غليظة وقيل خفيفة “لا يجوز استعماله” أي لا يصح التطهير به بحال ولا يشربه إلا مضطر كالميتة “وهو”: أي السؤر النجس “ما شرب منه الكلب” سواء فيه كلب صيد وماشية وغيره لما روى الدارقطني عن أبي هريرة عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في الكلب يلغ في الإناء أنه يغسل ثلاثا أو خمسا أو سبعا
