Attending the Funeral of a Non-Musim
Question
Can a revert muslim burry or attend a funeral of non Muslim eg family friend, give understanding in answer
Answer
As salām ʿalaikum wa raḥmatullāhī wa barakātuhu
In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
It is not permissible to bury or attend the funeral of a disbeliever. One should tactfully excuse oneself from the burial proceedings of a disbelieving family member. Once the burial proceedings are over, one may meet the deceased’s family and offer condolences by making duʿā for the patience and guidance of those in mourning.
And Allāh Taʿālā knows best.
