Meaning of the saying: "sins reduce ones lifespan"
Question
Some scholars state "It is possible that sins reduce ones lifespan." Is it true? Is it disbelief to believe this?
Answer
Whatever lifespan is written for each person, he will receive that lifespan. Through committing sin, one's lifespan will not increase or decrease. However, the barakah of one's life will decrease unless one sincerely repents and makes amends.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
