Telling the debtor to discharge zakaat on your behalf
Question
Someone owes me R5000. If I tell him, “Give the money which you owe me to the poor on my behalf as my zakaat”, will my zakaat be discharged?
Answer
Yes, it is permissible for you to do so and your zakaat will be discharged through him giving it to the poor on your behalf.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
