How many times a day did Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam eat?
Question
How many times a day did the Prophet Sallallallahu Alayhi Wasallam eat?
Answer
It was the common practice of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam to partake of meals twice a day if meals were available. This would be the Morning (Ghada’) and the evening (Ashaa’) meals. However, most of the time when food was not readily available for a meal, he (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) would observe a fast.
Sayyidatuna Aaisha Radhiyallahu Anha reports: “The family of Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam did not eat to their fill the bread of wheat for the morning and evening meals beyond three days consecutively till he passed away.” (Musnad Abu Ya’la)
Sayyidatuna Aaisha Radhiyallahu Anha reports: “There were many occasions where Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam would call for his morning meal but there would be nothing available. So, he would take it upon himself to fast that day.” (Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah)
