End of the year company parties
Question
At the end of the year, the company I work for will be having a party for all the staff. Is it permissible for me to attend considering that there will be music and intermingling of sexes as the staff consists of both males and females?
Answer
It is not permissible for you to attend this party that the company will be hosting. It is obvious and known to one and all as to what happens at these parties. There will either be music, dancing, immodest behaviour, indecent dressing or unlawful drinks served along with the free intermingling of sexes. You should politely excuse yourself from attending the party in whichever way possible. It really would not be nice if a Muslim has to pass away being in such an accursed environment like this.
