Is My Salaah Valid If I End It After the Imaam?
Question
While reading salaah, we get to the Qa’dah (sitting) position before Salaam. The Imaam starts Salaam and ends his second Salaam while I’m still reading my durood; then I complete my Salaam. Is my salaah valid, as I have now ended my salaah after the Imaam?
Answer
Your Salaah is valid. However, the correct procedure is that if you have completed your Tashahhud and are busy reciting Durood Ibrahim, and the Imaam makes Salaam, then you should follow the Imaam, make Salaam, and complete your Salaah.
However, if you are still busy with your Tashahud and the Imaam makes Salaam, then you will first complete your Tashahud and then make Salaam. (Raddul Muhtar 1/470)

Fatawa SA is an independent, read-only index of fatawa already published by Jamiatul Ulama KZN. It is not a fatwa service. For your own situation, ask the issuing Darul Ifta directly.
