Watching sports players with rainbow coloured laces
Question
Recently, sports associations have encouraged players to wear rainbow shoe-laces to support LGBTQ+.
What will be the ruling on watching these players? Will a viewer be a sympathiser of this evil act since he is sympathising with sympathisers?
Answer
The mere viewing of players wearing these laces will not be considered to be sympathising with the LGBTQ+ agenda. The two are not intrinsically linked to each other and are separate aspects.
Nonetheless, the watching of sport as a whole must be avoided. The evils associated with sports entertainment and the agendas connected to them are harmful to a person’s Aakhirah (Hereafter).
While there is physical benefit in playing sports, any benefit there is in watching sports entertainment is relatively insignificant when compared to its spiritual harms.
