What are the Islamic guidelines for intimacy in marriage?

“Being intimate with one’s wife during menstruation is not permissible until she reaches purity. The Quraan Sharif states: They ask you (O Muhammad e) concerning menstruation.”

“If the husband has a severe urge and need to be satisfied (due to not being able to be intimate with his wife as a result of her experiencing her monthly menstrual cycle) then it will be permissible for the wife to satisfy him by using her hands. This will be the ruling in the case of a severe need.”

“It is permissible to have intimate relations multiple times without going for a ghusl in between. However, it would be preferable to do ghusl in between. If not, then one should perform wudhu or at least wash his private area.”

“Having sexual relations with her when she is not in your nikaah is committing zina with her. Zina is haraam and earns the wrath of Allah Ta'ala. In the Quraan Majeed, Allah Ta'ala says, "Do not go close to zina, it is a shameful (immoral) deed and an evil path (to tread on). How can zina ever be permissible!”
