Prayer times & Hijri date
Salah times for South African cities, calculated on your device (University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi method). Hanafi Asr by default, with a Shafi‘i (standard) option. Your choice stays in this browser.
Prayer times
How these times are worked out
- Fajr and Isha: the sun 18° below the horizon (Karachi method, common in South Africa).
- Dhuhr: solar noon. Maghrib: sunset.
- Asr: Hanafi — when an object’s shadow is twice its length (plus its noon shadow); Shafi‘i/standard — once its length.
- Hijri date: Umm al-Qura calendar. South African moon-sighting may differ by a day; follow your local Ulama’s announcement.
- “Use my location” asks only when you tap it; the rounded position is kept only on this device.
Times can differ by a few minutes from a masjid’s printed timetable. For your congregation, follow your masjid.
