What the Darul Iftas say
“Yes. It will be better for someone to stay with her in her home until she completes her iddat. However, if this is not possible, then it will be permissible for you all to travel with her and take her to your hometown. She should complete her iddat in your home.”
“Firstly it should be understood that the Iddat of a women commences immediately on the demise of her husband. Secondly, it will not be permissible for a women in Iddat to leave the confines of her home except for a valid Shar’ee reason, and only to the extent of fulfilling the work that she has.”
“Although it is necessary on a divorced woman to spend her ‘Iddat in her husband’s house, if she fears for her safety or the safety of her honor or belongings, it will be permissible for her to spend it elsewhere.”
“Talaaq during menstruation is valid and effective. The Iddah of Talaaq for a female who is menstruating is three complete menstrual cycles. If Talaaq was issued during menstruation, the period in which the wife received the Talaaq will not be counted. She has to count three complete menstrual cycles thereafter.”
