How do I pray on a plane, ship or train?

“Performing fard salaah on the plane seat is not valid for the person who has the ability to stand and perform salaah. Hence, the salaah performed on the plane seat was not valid and one's fard did not take place.”

“If you are not permitted to stand and offer your Salaah on the plane, or the plane is so small that to perform Salaah while standing is not possible, then Salaah should be performed while seated. However, the Salaah will have to be repeated later, after landing.”

“If one is not able to stand and make Sajda in a moving vehicle or stop the vehicle to pray Fardh Salah on time, then Taqwa would demand that one prays his Fardh Salah sitting and after disembarking from the vehicle, one repeats his Salah.”

“In principle, it is not permissible for one to perform his Fardh or Witr Salaah while seated in these types of vehicles (bus, plane, train and ship, etc.). If one cannot perform it standing by facing the Qiblah due to some unforeseeable circumstances, then he can perform Salaah while on his seat but he must repeat it afterwards.”
