How much is sadaqatul fitr and when is it paid?

“1) It will not be permissible to use Zakaat money as a loan to buy items for Sadaqatul Fitr. All Zakaat that is collected is an Amaanat in their hands and it will not be permissible to utilize the money for anything else besides the intended Zakaat.”

“One may give any of the following items as Sadaqat-ul-Fitr: ½ Saa’ (1.75kg) of wheat 1 Saa’ (3.5kg) of dates 1 Saa’ (3.5kg) of barley 1 Saa’ (3.5kg) raisins”

“In principle, it is advisable to discharge sadaqatul fitr to the poor and needy people of one’s area of residence. One may also discharge sadaqatul fitr in another area where people are more in need. Accordingly, you may discharge your sadaqatul fitr in Pakistan.”

“Since he is living in America, he should discharge the kaffarah according to the rate of sadaqatul fitr in his country. If he wishes to give it in another country, then he may do so, but the equivalent of the value of sadaqatul fitr in his country will be considered.”
